Your work will include providing legal advice to client teams across the Council on a diverse range of procurement, contract and governance matters including project work on collaborative procurements, joint ventures, Council owned companies, frameworks, dynamic purchasing systems, construction projects etc.

You will report to the senior lawyer in the Contracts Team and have the opportunity to work alongside the team’s head of legal and other lawyers in legal services to ensure the delivery of high quality legal services for the benefit of the Council.

You will be an experienced solicitor, barrister or FILEX specialising in contracts and procurement with proven knowledge and experience of collaborative procurement, social care contracts, ICT contracts and construction contracts. 

You will also have the opportunity of developing your experience of data protection, TUPE and pensions, freedom of information, intellectual property, company law, information technology and other areas as the need for such advice arises. 

Experience of local authority governance and decision making would be an advantage but this is not essential for the role.  You will have excellent communication and IT skills and have the ability to work as a team player in a pragmatic way as we work with other Council officers to meet the high demand for excellent value for money public services.

Civil Litigation & Housing Lawyer

Are you an experienced and skilled civil litigation lawyer looking for a new challenge?  If so, we want to hear from you.

We are a highly regarded legal team in West London looking to recruit a civil litigation and housing lawyer to join our busy and friendly team.

The main focus of the role is to provide legal advice to client teams across the Council on a diverse range of general civil litigation matters such as commercial property, construction disputes, public law challenges, breach of contract claims, boundary disputes etc. However, the role also has the potential to take on housing law cases and work alongside our experienced and knowledgeable team. You will manage and prioritise your own caseload, be an advocate for the Council in Court and provide advice on policies and procedures.

You will report to the senior lawyer in the Civil Litigation and Housing Team and work alongside the team’s head of legal and other lawyers in Legal Services from time to time to ensure the delivery of high quality legal services for the benefit of the Council.

You will be an experienced solicitor, barrister or FILEX specialising in civil litigation with proven knowledge and experience of both High Court and County Court litigation as well as housing law.
